Down-Conversion
The process of converting high-definition video to standard-definition. Since high-definition and standard-definition video frames are shaped differently, the process of down-conversion must also include aspect ratio conversion. Anamorphic, letterbox, and edge crop are aspect ratio conversion techniques that may be used for down conversions.
