Aspect Ratio Conversion

The technique of formatting a picture to fit within a non-matching frame shape. Anamorphic, letterbox, and edge crop are examples of aspect ratio converstions from widescreen to non-widescreen frames. Pillarbox is an example of an aspect ratio conversion from non-widescreen to widescreen. Aspect ratio conversions are always part of an up-conversion or down-conversion process.
